Florian Jeßberger holds the Chair of Penal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, International Penal Law and Contemporary Legal History at the University of Hamburg. Moreover he is vice dean of the law school.
Jeßberger's reasearch emphasis is on Penal Law including its international and historical connections. He is co-editor of the Journal of International Criminal Justice (Oxford University Press) and the Schriften zum Internationalen und Europäischen Strafrecht (Texts on International and European Penal Law/ published by Nomos) as well as Co-Principal Investigator of the Minerva Center for the Study of the Rule of Law under Extreme Conditions at the University of Haifa (Israel) and member of the Advisory Board of the European Center for Conditional and Human Rights in Berlin. Furthermore he has been spokesperson of the Koordinierungsausschusses des Arbeitskreis Völkerstrafrecht (coordinating committee of the international criminal law working group) since 2015.
