Paolo Dal Checco
Paolo Dal Checco received his PhD in Computer and Network Security from the University of Turin, doing research on Cryptography and Security. After few years in the field of communication security, he focused on Computer Forensics and Digital Investigations as an Expert Witness. In 2012 he co-founded the "Digital Forensics Bureau" consulting firm, which does business with and for Government, Law Enforcement Officers, Lawyers and Companies.
Mainly skilled in computer, network and mobile forensics, Paolo is a member of AIP, CLUSIT Tech and Law associations, he is board member of the the IISFA Italian Chapter and one of the founders of ONIF and DEFT Associations. The DEFT Association currently develops the GNU Linux distribution called DEFT Linux (Digital Evidence & Forensics Toolkit) and the DART suite (Digital Advanced Response Toolkit).
He's author of articles, papers, patents and a regular speaker on Computer Forensics and Digital Investigations in several Italian and European courses, conferences and workshops.
Daily involved in OSINT, mobile, network and computer forensics tasks, Paolo is now approaching new techniques for investigation on audio, video and crypto currencies. He's specifically interested and doing research in topics such as bitcoin forensics and denanonymization of addresses, wallets and transactions, smart contracts, ransomware prevention, anti money laundering techniques, dark and deep web investigation.
